Questions people ask

What is the difference between a counter stool and a bar stool?

The difference is the seat height. A counter stool is for a kitchen island or counter, and a bar stool sits higher, for a bar counter. The Son&Bear Lucia Plus island chair comes in two seat heights, 65 cm and a lower 55 cm, and at our 90 cm Kira island table the 65 cm seat is the one to choose. Both heights are 44 cm wide and 53 cm deep, with a backrest and stretchers that double as footrests.

Which height do I need for my kitchen island or counter?

The Lucia Plus comes in two seat heights, 65 cm and a lower 55 cm, so start with the height of the surface the chairs will sit at. At our Kira island table, which stands 90 cm high, choose the 65 cm seat. For any other island or counter, measure it from the floor to the top, bring that number to a Son&Bear showroom, and our team will help you choose.

What is the Lucia Plus made of, and how do I look after it?

The Lucia Plus has a solid wood frame in five colours: Natural Ash, Natural Oak, Walnut, Dark Walnut and Black. Wipe the frame with a barely damp cloth and dry it after. The seat comes in a fine woven fabric, which is softer to sit on; in Eco-Lux, a coated leather that wipes clean in one pass; or in Velora, a richly coloured upholstery you can see as a swatch at a showroom. Wood grain and colour vary from chair to chair, so the samples in our showrooms are the true reference.

Is the Lucia Plus a good choice for a home with pets or young children?

Yes, with the Eco-Lux seat. Eco-Lux is one of Son&Bear's three Eco-Series leathers, the only materials we call pet-friendly. It is scratch-resistant and water-resistant, and spills and crayon marks wipe off with a damp cloth. The woven fabric and Velora seats are not part of the Eco-Series.

What warranty comes with a Son&Bear island chair?

Son&Bear island chairs carry a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover normal wear and tear, such as scratches, dents, watermarks and food stains, or damage from misuse. Natural variation and movement in solid wood are not defects. The full terms are on our warranty page.
